The difference between "us" and "them".
The difference between us (honest, decent, caring humans) and "them" (reichwing KKKristians) is that even though many of us are not christians--or, in fact, have no faith in a god of any sort--we are moral and reasonable folks.
This latest wrinkle in the GOP's pandering to the GODibanic fundamentalists is merely a logical extension of their continual drift to the extreme right. While it appears that Sarah Palin has little or no experience in any area that would be crucial to her governance in the (all too) likely event that she would inherit John McCain's job when he strokes out or dies of melanoma, it does not, in the minds of her rabid followers disqualify her from having that job.
To that end, the RNC and the McCain campaign have used their dollars to attack the Obama candidacy with innuendo and outright lies, while attempting to deflect legitimate criticism of both McCain and Palin. Sarah Palin's handlers are, in fact, only making her available to media personalities (calling them journalists would be an insult to those who are) who will treat her favorably.
I have read numerous posts and comments urging Senator Obama and his campaign to fight fire with fire. Would that they could. I think there is something about having character, a conscience and a gag reflex that, unfortunately preclude that sort of swinish behavior.
For that reason I am announcing, here, that I will be available for that duty. I have virtually no scruples re: doing or saying whatever it takes to wake people the fuck up. Send me you tired accusations, your poorly researched indictments and your wretched truthiness, yearning to be spewed. I will do what I can to disseminate it. Oh, send me some truth, too, it helps to confuse the issue.

Way to go, Demo! Rockin’ post, right out of the box. Keep it coming.
Hurray! Our own potty-mouthed attack machine! Democommie to the rescue.
Great blog and yes! a lot work.
I'm Just A Girl
Yes! Yes! A thousand times yes! The Democommie™™™™™©®รง au courant blog is here and the internets (it's a series of tubes, nothing at all like a truck) will never be the same. I rejoice in this long-awaited development.
Only one question. What, dude, is up with the picture of George Carlin in your profile? You know, the George Carlin who once said, "Think about how stupid the average person is. Now think about how half the people are stupider than that."
I love it! Congrats on the new blog, and keep 'em coming!
Demo, pal o’ mine, you’ve been linked. Well, okay, you’ve been linked over at my joint, which ain’t sayin’ much. But linked nonetheless.
Woo! Woo!
I can never figure out the friggin' comments section on my own damned blog!
I'm still messin' with this thing.
democommie
As a former software engineer, I still see binary a lot of the time. I think we can pretty much divide people into two camps. There is the "Every man for himself" camp, and the "We're all in this together" camp. I think we can pretty much figure out which party subscribes to which philosophy.
I am a recovering Greek Orthodox. Not as tough a road as for a recovering Catholic, but tough nonetheless. I studied Judaism for a while. The great Rabbi Hillel wrote, "If I am not for myself, who is for me? But if I am for my own self only, what am I? And if not now, when?" Now, more than ever.
Jobs. Energy. Health care. Jobs. energy. Health care.
Sharon:
Yes, to all of that.
Is this Sharon-Librarian-in-Training?
One and the same. And if I can't find any new dirt on McNasty and McCandy, I'll make some up. That's what they do. Keep an eye on Mudflats for interesting material.

Okay, THIS needs to be repeated ad nauseaum. I'm writing a letter to my paper tonight.
"Quote from toochie50 on Huffingtonpost.com:
‘ll tell you what I am INSULTED by…. John McCain’s voting record.
* McCain voted AGAINST Equal Pay for Women
* McCain voted AGAINST Violence Against Women Act
* McCain voted AGAINST Title X Womens Health Care Services
* McCain voted AGAINST Children’s Health Insurance Program-SCHIP
* McCain voted AGAINST aid to Children of Domestic Violence
* McCain voted AGAINST Emergency Funding for Victims of Hurricane Katrina
* McCain voted AGAINST Funding Law Enforcement
* McCain wants to bring back the DRAFT [slight exaggeration, but who cares?]
* McCain voted AGAINST GI Bill
* McCain voted AGAINST Funding VA for Vets
* McCain voted AGAINST Funding Military Equipment Shortages in Iraq
* Palin continues to LIE about the bridge. Palin SUPPORTED the bridge, TOOK THE MONEY for the bridge, KEPT THE MONEY for the bridge and SPENT THE MONEY for the bridge.
* Palin AND her husband AND her children BILLED the taxpayers of Alaska, $16,000.00 so the Palin’s could have Family Time.
* Palin REFUSES to answer questions from reporters. In fact, Palin REFUSES to answer reporter’s questions on her plane… SUSPICIOUS?????!!!!!!
"
Yay! Democommie!
Need to bookmark and do a little house-keeping on my sidebar. Talk to ya soon!
[taken a little bit out of context, but who cares?]
"‘Listen,[God] is gonna deal with all the inhabitants of the earth. He is gonna strike out His hand against, yes, Wasilla; and Alaska; and the United States of America. There’s no exceptions here — there’s none. It’s all.’”"
~Larry Kroon, pastor of Wasilla Bible Church, Vice Presidential candidate Sarah Palin’s home church, July 20, 2008.
Thanks for all of the feedback.
I fired off an e-mail to NPR this afternoon. I was listening to "Talk of the Nation" while Neal Conant (whom I actually enjoy listening to, most of the time) was interviewing Linda Robinson. She is the author of a book on General Betrayus and the war in Iraq. As soon as I heard that I started googling her name.
It turns out that she is a senior writer on military matters for U.S. News & World Report. She is no so much an embed as in bed with the army. She suggested, back in 2005 that Hugo Chavez was helping to arm/train islamic terrorists. Sounds like another Judith Miller to me.
I told NPR I was pissed. They did get back to me, but it's a lame response. I know they have to be somewhat more objective than False News, but WTF?
Maaate! You look a lot like I pictured you would! More's the pity...
Yes, Bukko, but I believe that I’m the only one here who’s shared an adult beverage with the man himself, alive and in the flesh. Well, his flesh was clothed. Mostly.
But I will say, don’t ever challenge Democommie (etc) to a drinking game. Think of the Monty Python “Piranha brothers” sketch: “Doug used something worse than violence. Sarcasm.”
Am I right, Demo? Huh?
I just learned about a new blog called Women Against Sarah Palin. (http://womenagainstsarahpalin.blogspot.com/)
Via viral email, they are soliciting short remarks for the blog. I sent this (perhaps not so short, but I am a JD, after all):
"Sarah Palin does not represent me. We may have the same internal
organs, but that's about it. She is auditioning for the role of the
President's understudy, but she is clueless about the important issues
of the day: health care, banking regulation, energy independence, our massive foreign debt, and jobs. She is a long-time supporter of the Alaskan Independence Party, whose leader has professed a profound and burning hatred of the American government. She has no more notion of what's happening in the Middle East than does John McCain and, like most Americans, does not even possess a passport. What's most puzzling to me is why she would even want the job, unless being in Washington
full-time would make it easier to lobby for drilling in ANWR.
"As for John McCain, he insults all American women with this choice, as
if it weren't enough that he has voted AGAINST Equal Pay for Women,
AGAINST the Violence Against Women Act, AGAINST Title X Womens Health
Care Services, AGAINST the Children's Health Insurance Program-SCHIP, and AGAINST aid to Children of Domestic Violence. If the GOP had to have a woman on the ticket, as if to fill a quota, there are any number of more qualified Republican women: Kay Bailey Hutchinson, Elizabeth Dole, Christine Todd Whitman, Olympia Snowe, and my own state's Jodi Rell, just to name a few. John McCain met Ms. Palin only once before making his selection. Now as more information about her
brief record as mayor and governor come out of Alaska, and as we learn
about her fiscal irresponsibility and abuse of power, we see that his
first important decision as a Presidential candidate shows that the recklessness that he displayed as a young pilot has not diminished. Is either of them the person we want answering that red phone at 3am? I don't think so!"
Bukko:
That photo has actually been pretty heavily photoshopped and "computer youthed" to make me look a little less, unmarriageable" for when I'm brideshopping at "Hannity Date".
And brother von Ebers is telling the truth. He and I have shared an evening of regalement and debauchery (he was regaling, I was debauched). So far as drinking games go, I lose most of them, except for "Spin the check".
Sharon:
That blog sounds like a great place to go. I'm thinking that it's going to take Hillary Clinton and other women of her stature and toughness to attack Palin on the substantive issues. When they attack her, what will the GOP do?
Heather:
Thanks for stopping by and please come back when you can stay longer!
Richard:
Do you, like I, really, really, really not miss El Tigre de Nachos?
Who knew you had all these fans? I somehow pictured you holed up somewhere in upstate, clutching your little red book and a bottle of Jim Beam, waiting for my next post.
I am truly humbled.
Mazel Tov, Fellow Traveling democommie,
From your keypad to Everone's eyes!
xoxo
Nomi
p.s. if you stop posting on Grace P., my heart will break.
Mack:
Thanks for stopping by. I'm not sure about fans, but I do have friends who visit because I'm an irascible old bastard, not in spite of it. Your blog--http://coyotechronicles.wordpress.com/--is quite good, as is Dave von Ebers' blog--http://journalplagueyear.blogspot.com/--and Nomi's--http://neverdied.blogspot.com/. There are some others whose links I dont' have handy. As soon as I figure out how to blogroll (I'm still just enjoying the extra revenue from blogwhoring--although it makes me feel cheap and easy--so it'll b a bit.
Nomi:
I'm going to pop over and leave a short one, right now.
Whoa! New digs!!
Is this like a streamlined source of vitriol? Hope so!
I can understand how spinning against the GOP requires nothing less than top shelf pernicious disparagement.
Don't hold back!
Joe Visionary:
Vitriol, it's not just for breakfast anymore.
Come and argue, I will be polite to all reasonable folks.
If you've never visited Ed Brayton's page @ Scienceblogs you ought to take a look at it some time.
I had a look at scienceblogs, and frankly my deeply religious psychosis allows me to poo-poo all that 'knowledge' type stuff.
You sure you want to mess with Genesis?
P.S. How soon can I accidentally invite el tigre over here?
Joe:
You want to look mroberts over there. He's like el tigger with more buybull.
If the idiot had something of substance to say, instead of his rants I would say "bring it on", but I don't have time to work with the mentally deranged so until I get my "banning" chops up to speed I'll just have to forego that little pleasure.
Whoa, Demo … “El Tigre de la Nachos”?! Is my pet troll posting somewhere else?
’Cuz he’s not welcome over at my place any more. Not that I’m jealous or anything.
I'd miss El Tigre de Nachos only because I find it amazing how utterly w/out clue he and those who support McInsane are but since I got my fill of hearing from those types during their wicked-awful get-together recently in the Gestapo state of what we used to call the Twin Cities, to answer your question, no, I do not.
gawd - all i do is talk food. this is all waaaay above my pay scale. not proud - just a fact.
but i'll be reading because i adore youuuuuuu
and it's about damn time... now get yourself a proper kitchen and get to cooking.
oh and promise me you won't be an over achiever poster - like with multiples a day - cause i won't be able to keep up....
Hello, Jim:
Not that you've probably got a shortage of places to visit, but check out Dave von Ebers' blog when you have some time.
Thanks, Demo.
Well Demo and Dave and anyone else, if you're ever at the far end of the planet, I will treat you to a teenage beverage (the drinking age being 18 here, and you don't doubt it when you're riding the trams through downtown on a Saturday night.) I still have half a case of 2002 Goulburn Valley (Oz's equivalent to California's Central Valley, in other words, fruit-and-veg town) shiraz. Cost all of $30 Aussie for a dozen bottles, which is $2.50 each for a 750-ml "cleanskin." At the current exchange rate, that's cheaper than Two-Buck Chuck from Trader Joe's, and every bit as good. (As long as you've been drinking heavily before you get into the stuff.) Hell, I might even unscrew the cap from two bottles!
P.S. I posted this on an old thread so that nobody's tempted to actually take me up on the offer. Not that anyone ever comes down here anyway.
Bukko in Australia:
"Two Buck Chuck" is only $2 in Cali, everywhere else it's $3. I blame Bushco.
