You want someathis?
The "Super Majority" never existed. Okay, we got that out of the way.
I have been busy. What with working on my house, doing some pro bono stuff, taking a class (okay, it's only 5 hours on saturday, but it's SCHOOL!) and banging heads with idiots on various blogs, I been bizzzzy.
Now the GOP is saying that if the dems cave on everything they will be "bi-partisan" and work together with them to fuck us some more. I am sick to death of the democratic leadership not being able to understand that they can either play the game the reptilicans play or go home at half-time and watch the rest of the game on the teevee.
The "loyal opposition" (boy, is that an oxymoron) has demonstrated that they have zero interest in doing anything that won't benefit the people who own the HMO's, insurance companies and Big Pharma. Meantime they have managed to morph the failure of Bushco into Obama's problem.
I used to blame this on the pols, but I can see that it's got at least as much to do with the idiots who watch and listen to the talking heads and form their uncritical opinions from the sound bites they get from those folks.
I talk to a lot of people who tell me that they don't want to do politics because it's too nasty. Well, fuck that. Yes, it is nasty, but it won't get less nasty because you don't participate.
The gunnutz like to make a big deal about how the German people were unable to resist Hitler because he took their gunz away. The reality is this: Hitler took the guns away in 1938, from SOME of the people (jews). The German citizens gave away their rights to self-determination when they failed to resist Hitler's criminal manipulation of the electoral process--between 1929 and 1933.
If you don't fight you still lose when the reactionaries take over the government. Be loud and impolite, the GOP has shown that it's a good strategy.
BTW, there's apparently a push on by the NRA and it's sturmabteilung to make sure that Starbucks welcomes gun toting latte drinkers into its shops. I think their coffee sucks anyway, but if I liked it I would be in favor of not buying it to see if their support of the rights of a vocal, petulant minority will supercede their desire to make a profit. the gunnutz say a boycott would never work. Maybe, maybe not, I'm not going to be one of their customers.

«Oldest ‹Older 201 – 249 of 249Wow. 205 comments? Way to go democommie. That's, like, 200 more than I've ever gotten on any post and I've written some pretty goddamned interesting stuff (so says my cat).
Have any (i.e., as in a single one mentioned "Militia" much less a "well-regulated" one? Not just regulated but "well-regulated"?
I agree with Nixon on one thing and one thing only and that was when he said, "Guns are an abomination."
There's a reason they call 'em "Gun Nuts", you know.
Richard:
The "well regulated militia" meme has not been put in play, here, as yet. I'm sure it would come up at some point if the thread ran long enough.
mikey:
It's settled until it's unsettled. And, if it ever happens that the Type 2A's see their reason for living repealed, I'm sure that they will accept the rule of the majority.
Someone whose only justification for arming themselves to the teeth is "cuz I can!" telling others that they are "sad pandas" is pretty funny.
Where, btw, is that long winded, fact filled post of yours showing the audit trail for your equal support of gay rights as gun rights? Weer'dy did try to bail you out of your predicament but, since he's not the one who lied about it, his help ain't much help--knowudimean?
Oh, dear me; mikey, you still don't get it? I am absolutely conviced that you will never believe that I am not "Anti-gun" but I am "Anti-fuckhead gunnutz with gunz". Now, you can choose to be in that latter category (it does seem that gunz are the objects around which most of your issues coalesce) or not. I really don't care whether you believe me or not.
OTOH, you made an idiotic comment about being AS supportive of gay rights as you are of gun writes and yet don't provide the proof.
So, mikey, it really is boring hearing you talk about other people's lack of courage, scholarship or logic on the issue as your 2A rights. Really, I get that you and your gunnutz pals are gonna do whatever the fuck you want to do--because it's legal! I also get that should the laws change and you and your fellow citizen soldier wannabes disagree with their "unjust" regulation you will simply ignore them and prepare to defend your GOD GIVEN RIGHT to have any and all gunz that you want.
I disagree entirely with your take on the 2nd Amendment--that's not the problem I have with you and your friends. My problem is that you're gloating, bullying fuckheads who don't have the good grace or good sense to simply go your way and let others go theirs. You're so fucking afraid that your "right" will be taken away--a fear which is stoked by your church, the NRA--that you are hypersensitive to any criticism and totally unwilling to admit that there might be the slightest problem with your agenda to arm the entire populace.
I'm just telling you this last bit once. None of your posts will stay here in future. I'm bored to death with your bullshit. I'm going to delete every comment that you put on this blog and this comment
"Brain damaged mikey, the phantom gay rights supporter has once again displayed his inability to understand plain english."
will follow.
Have a wonderful, target rich life--but have it on somebody's else's blog.
"Brain damaged mikey, the phantom gay rights supporter has once again (well, twice, actuallya) displayed his inability to understand plain english."
DC, gasp! I read your post and wanted to congratulate you on both coming back and expressing your points so well again, when I noticed the 214 comments -- and so many of them (rightly, I'm sure) deleted.
You have been biizzzy, is right. ;)
BTW, guns in Starbucks? That's just desperate. I think they should just stick to lousy overpriced coffee. (And given how lousy and overpriced it is, the potential for violence among SB's customers is higher than average, so allowing guns inside may not be the best idea after all.)
BTW, Richard's comment made my day:
Here's the problem in a nutshell. Having survived a heart procedure as I did I now love everything about everybody. All the time. I am, in other words, out of sorts. I need to work on that
LOL!
And Mutzali -- spot on.
Elizabeth:
It kinda makes my day when someone who is both elegant and elemental stops by to say "howdy".
The folks who come here and make their endless (and endlessly boring) comments about their RIGHT to own and operate any sort of firearms that they so desire is ALL that is important in the debate about how to try lessening the deaths and other violence that involve guns pride themselves on being careful to not use foul language and, what they consider, insulting language. They remind me, more than a bit of the sanctimonious KKKristians (there is probably some crossover between the two groups) who also like to think that using the word, "fuck" is somehow worse than engaging in truly hateful ways toward their fellow man.
Just as I don't give a rat's ass what the KKKristians do--until it bumps up against my life--I don't care what they do. They cannot accept that me thinking that they are paranoid idiots in no way violates their "rights" and they also think that coming here or to other blogs and telling other people that they are stupid, cowardly or dishonest will, in some unfathomable way, convince those people that they are mistaken about the problem of rampant violence and its association with guns.
I really don't think that they are interested in anything less than having absolute freedom to do whatever they like re: gunz, and if it is a problem for the rest of us, then we're sissies.
I find this mindset to be very similar to the mindset of the Bushco GOP. I also don't think it will change.
Thank you to Mutzali and the other intelligent humans who have added rational comments at the bottom of this thread. Demo -- time to write a new post so your loyal fanz don't hve to pagedown through so much bollocks.
I reckon you're winning the contest with the gunnutz by this metric -- how many hours of time have they spent thinking about you, forming ideas in their fevered imaginations about what to say to you, actually sitting behind a keyboard typing stuff? And you can bleep those hours in a matter of seconds. Your seconds trumps their hours! It's a sign that they're mentally ill; that they'd waste hours on something that won't linger as long as a sand castle on the beach.
Hey, didja see that that Jon Swift blogger, the one who did the faux conservative schtick like Teh Gen'l, only in a more erudite persona, suddenly dropped dead? You got twigged onto him long after he had written his "last post" (to pun a military song term.) The last thing he authored was March 19, 2009, but the comment thread about it carried on.
About a week ago, a message by someone purporting to be his mom popped up at the end of the thread. It announced "Jon Swift's" real name, and the fact that he had suffered a brain aneurysm while driving home from his father's funeral and died the next day. The outpouring of sad comments on that last post was touching. (Still doesn't add up to as many as you've gotten from the gun-suckers, though.)
I think of Teh Gen'l (whoever he is in real life. I don't care to know, because I prefer to think of my imaginary friends on the computer screens as being the identities they choose to be, not who they are.) He's had health problems, as have you, IIRC. It's weird to see the "fourth wall" shattered when real life (or more often, real DEATH) interrupts a blogging career. Stay healthy!
BTW, mad German language skillz you got there, mate!
Bukko Canukko:
Thanks for your kind words. I don't think of "winning" re: the gunboyz. I just think that I like my regular readers, as few as they are to not be subjected to endless, repetitive posts about a subject which is as settled in my mind as it is in theirs. They love guns and, basically, hate everybody who doesn't. They can live with that. I have no intention of arming up and spending my life waiting for the chance to kill somebody who invades my space.
I was talking to someone recently who has a former special ops brother-in-law. She said he thought that most people who think that a gun will save them are, in a word, wrong.
Ultimately, I don't give a rat's ass what they do, until they make my life problematic. Since they insist on doing that, well, fuck 'em.
You're right, I need to do a new post and I'll try to work something up for tomorrow ore wednesday.
"Brain damaged mikey, the phantom gay rights supporter has once again displayed his inability to understand plain english."
Bobby S. sez:
"Isn't it funny that Democommie has been at this 1 month already."
I don't know bobby, is it funnier that I spend time on my own blog deleting shithead's comments or funnier that they the waste their time putting them there?
You, btw, are now in the same category as mikey and any comment you bother to put here will be deleted. It doesn't matter what you think of that. It only matters if you want to waste your time doing it.
Do these guys really think baring arms will convince us to let them marry, raise an adopted family, and award spousal rights when one accidently shoots the other while "cleaning his rifle"?
Ah, the trifecta:
mikey, weer'dy and bobby all have decided that they like wasting their time putting up posts that are childish and insulting--curiously this is a behavior that they accuse other folks of on a regular basis.
I won the bet, btw, fellas. I bet some friends of mine that I could get over 200 comments on this thread. I think I'll ask him if he wants to double down for a limit of 250.
weer'dy says the Reverend Jerry Gloryhole is homophobic--as well as anti-gun. Well, Reverend Jerry may well be anti-gun, but homophobic? Nah. weer'dy also likes to say that I'm a racist--with zero evidence to back up the assertion. I think if you do some checking, weer'dy, you
'll find that a lot of them KKKlan boys were racists and gunnutz--still are, for that matter.
You can certainly call me demoKKKommie if it soothes the hurt. None of the regular readers suspect me of having either homophobic or racist tendencies, but when you out me they'll be stunned--and then they'll be ROFLTAO.
I kind of like having imaginary friends. (My own Harvey is a six-foot weasel.)
It's much better than having imaginary enemies. When you have imaginary enemies it can turn you into one of those gun nuts whose paranoia makes them feel the need to be strapped at all times, even down at the corner coffee shop.....
weer'dy is beginning to get a little desparate. He is talking about my non-existent homophobia and racism because he has nothing else to work with. Poor baby. And now he's calling me DemoKKKommie. It hurts, it really, really hurts. After all of the nice things that have been said about him and his friends and their polite manners.
Oh, gosh! Now weer'dy sez:
"...Show me a post that you have made in support of non-white races and gay rights!"
Darn! Do I gotta? I've only done one that I'm aware of, you can find it if you look through the whole archive. Of course I don't give a flying fuck what you think of my support of gays and non-whites. I'm on record, in numerous places, for being supportinve of gay rights and civil rights. Whether you believe that or not is immaterial. You and mikey like to insult and denigrate others, but you're both exceedingly thin skinned. You're both punks.
Reverend Jerry Gloryhole:
As always your homily is pithy without being pissy.
Weer'dy asks:
"So what makes this Christian not a KKKristian?
Just curious."
Which would be a difficult question to answer, since I have no idea which "christian" he's talking about. If it's me he's talking about it's an easy answer, I'm not a believer; I'm an atheist.
mikey sez:
"An athiest who denigrates Christians by calling them KKKristians."
AND
"I also love your "I don't have to prove my support of gays and civil liberties to you"
You sing a different tune now huh?"
Well, mikey, I don't call ALL Christians, "KKKristians" just the ones who are sanctimonious, lying sacks of shit who want to force their "loving" faith on others. Sorta like I don't call ALL gun owners, "gunnutz", just those that act like you, weer'dy and the cadre of idiots who act the same way.
As for having to prove my support for gays. Well, gosh, mikey, I never made an idiotic statement about supporting their rights as much as I support other rights. But we both know that you did make such a statement and have been doing your best to avoid admitting that you were lying when you said it.
weer'dy sez:
"I don't know, the CHRISTIAN MINISTER who we were just talking to."
And you think I'm a dim bulb? Howzabout reading the name of his church a few times, or its acronym, "CULT". Now the part about the shooting is true. The rest of it is satire and you either don't get that or you deliberately ignore it.
Brain damaged mikey, the phantom gay rights supporter has once again displayed his inability to understand plain english.
Both mikey and weer'dy keep telling me how angry I am. That's a bit of projection on their part. They keep putting up comments that are deleted as soon as I see them. I actually view them as loudmouthed assholes who without their gunz wouldn't have anything to talk about.
Ah, I love it when I find some new toy. This comments moderation thing, on posts over two weeks old is cool.
Now I don't have to spend time looking through all the earlier posts to see if mikey or weer'dy has decided to put a comment on another thread.
And since nobody else is really interested in this thread it's sorta done.
Democommie, I guess you and MikeB have fun reading the comments. I find it rather tedious.
I'd hate to say How I came to read this post, but I do have to admit amusement at how some people want to force their opinions on others.
You have the right to say what you want, but I also have the right to not have to listen to what you say.
(Psssst, Demo. Is it safe to come out now?)
(Oooops. Sorry, Demo. I didn’t realize you were moderating individual comments before they post. Feel free to delete on of the last two (nearly) identical comments.)
Laci and Dave von Ebers:
Yeah, I turned on the moderation feature, just so I wouldn't have to spend a lot of time clicking through to see what new turd nugget the gunnaboyz had left here.
I've been quite busy lately and just haven't had the time to devote to my self aggrandizing schtick. Tis a pity!
I noticed we're up to 633 comments on this post (well, make it 634 now) and, as one might suspect, some people seem to have gone off on a tangent(s). I'm afraid of doing the same thing as I can't at this piont remember what the original post was about. Was it that it's okay to shoot somebody who wants to charge you 6 bucks for a cup of coffee? Cause I think I'm ok with that.
Richard:
Shooting them is out, but you can give them a Grande Wedgie.
Wow:
mikey still doesn't get it, he still leaves comments.
Aaron Kinney:
For whatever reasons of his own, the General is allowing your comments to stand on his blog; my policy has not changed in that regard.
